Player selection and plug-in installation instructions

(Hint: Friends in a hurry can just read the bold text)

Since music in *.mid format cannot be played directly in modern browsers, for your convenience, we provide two optional playback methods - Ogg playback and MIDI player playback. You can choose by clicking the settings icon next to the player settings .

Ogg playback is to convert mid files into ogg format waveform data on the server in advance, and then play them through the browser. Due to the limited server space, Ogg playback is currently only available for some MIDI music (donations are welcome to support us to purchase more hard disk space and network bandwidth: -P)

By default, the MIDI player is played by the "Tiny Synth" output device simulated by the browser, but this sound quality is very poor and is only for compatibility. Fortunately, there is a magical third-party small plug-in. After installation, you can choose different MIDI output devices, which is convenient for you to listen to MIDI music with your favourite MIDI output device.

For MIDI fans, we recommend using the MIDI player method. Although you need to install a magical small plug-in, this method is more in line with the characteristics of MIDI music.

This magical plugin is called Jazz. It was developed by an American engineer, Sema. He is currently an employee of Intel (the company that makes computer CPUs). Very professional!

The Jazz plug-in consists of two parts, Jazz-Plugin and Jazz-MIDI. The former is used to provide the underlying support of the operating system, and the latter is used to interact with the browser.

The specific installation steps are as follows:

1. Please download the corresponding installation file (Jazz-Plugin) according to your operating system:

Windows: Click here to download (from official website link) (If you can not download the official website link can also click here to download )

Mac OS X: Click to download

Linux version: click to download

After downloading, install it normally. (It is best to keep the default installation path during installation, otherwise it may not be available. Thanks to the enthusiastic member Morus for feedback)

2. Install the corresponding browser plug-in (Jazz-MIDI):

Chrome, Opera, or other Chromium-based browsers: click to go to the Chrome store to install

Firefox: Click to go to Firefox Extension Center to install

Other browsers: optional

You may need to restart the browser after installation.

After the above two steps are completed, you can then listen to MIDI music on the web page!

Thanks to the plugin author, Sema!
