在第二次国内革命战争时期创作的，当时，井冈山革命根据地战斗频繁，当时每个村子里面的百姓都来到村头河边来送别红军，朴实的农民们用最简洁，最口语化的词句将心中的感恩唱了出来，虽然很简单朴实，但是旋律非常的婉转动听，这是劳动人民们共同创作的红色歌谣 ，具有明显的时代特征，所以顺应当时的时代背景，以叙述的方式将人民对红军的情感歌颂了出来，任何人都希望时代和平，人民能够取得温饱的愿望。
这首曲子很经典，很好听。
