Introduction
该曲创作于1963年学雷锋运动期间，词曲作者潘振声彼时在上海的一所小学当大队辅导员，收到了中央人民广播电台《小喇叭》节目的来信，约他写一首歌。当时，在他的办公桌上有一个放文具的盒子，用来存放孩子们捡到的硬币；而那时孩子们排队回家，交警就在校外维持交通秩序，孩子们和交警关系非常亲密，经常走出校门很远了，还频频回头和交警挥手道别。潘振声便把这两个场景融合起来，创作了该曲
