Introduction
牧神的午后
《牧神的午后》是德彪西最早的不朽名作,这首前奏曲作于1892—1894年,1894年12月22日由古斯塔夫·多莱(Gustave Doret, 1866—1943)指挥首演。此曲为马拉美的同名诗而作,原计划还要写间奏曲、终曲,此曲完成后,因已囊括了马拉美诗的内涵而放弃了原计划。马拉美的诗描述西西里岛上,半人半羊的牧神午睡方醒,女妖玫瑰色的肌肤仿佛在他眼前飘动。牧神顺这感觉追溯幻境,正想折苇笛吹奏时,突然见远处山泉旁草丛里,有雪白的肌肤在闪动,苇笛声徐缓悠扬,惊起泉畔的水鸟,女妖也纷纷潜入水中。牧神追赶过去,发现脚旁有两个意态慵懒的女妖正旁若无人地躺在那里。牧神抱起两人,隐入蔷薇丛中,女妖若隐若现,无所谓地心不在焉,牧神觉得手中的猎物四肢无力却不易抓住,“竟然不知陶醉地欢喜欲泪”。最后猎物逃脱,牧神却浮现拥抱美神维纳斯的幻影,身心疲惫下来,伏倒在热沙土上,再次要瞌睡。诗作最后是“再见了,绝世美人,我望着你那移动的身影。”德彪西自己解说,他的这首作品是针对马拉美诗最后一行而作的阐释。“这首前奏曲,可以说是将马拉美的美丽诗篇自由地予以诠释而成,可是并没有涵盖全诗的意思。或者可以说是以马拉美的诗串连成背景,烘托出牧神的种种欲望与幻想在午后郁热的暑气中蠢蠢欲动的情景。这以后,牧神因追逐逃遁的女妖而陷于极度的疲劳状态,然后昏然沉睡过去。在梦中,他感觉大自然的一切为他所拥有,也就是说,他的幻想在梦境中实现了。”此曲是在半音阶阶进波状起伏的藤蔓形音型主题基础上,加入不同和声润色的10段变奏,也可把第一至第三部分(主题呈示+两个变奏)为呈示部,第四、五、六部分为发展部,第七部分为歌调形式的中间部,第八部分为结尾部。也就是说,此曲和谐地融合了奏鸣曲式、变奏曲式和歌调形式。
