西班牙国歌的起源，至今仍众说纷纭。1761年之前已有一首《掷弹兵进行曲》的军乐，在军队出征前弹奏。1770年9月3日，卡洛斯三世将“掷弹兵进行曲”升格为“荣誉进行曲”。1869年光荣革命后成为西班牙国歌。1978年12月27日西班牙宪法明文规定《掷弹兵进行曲》正式成为西班牙国歌。1997年10月10日西班牙政府获得此乐的版权。
