1975年6月25日，莫桑比克独立，建立莫桑比克人民共和国，莫桑比克解放阵线开始执政。使用的国歌是《万岁，莫桑比克解放阵线》，这首充满战斗气息的颂歌陪伴着莫桑比克十年以来独立战争的伟大进程，又伴着莫桑比克迎来15年的社会主义共和国时代。1990年12月1日，莫桑比克人民共和国开始实行多党制，并将国名更改为“莫桑比克共和国”。此后，莫桑比克解放阵线长期作为执政党。这首国歌最终仅仅再延伸使用至2002年。2002年4月30日，这首国歌被《亲爱的祖国》取代。
