Grieg Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 16

格里格的《钢琴协奏曲》如今已是同体裁最受欢迎的作品之一。不过，当年轻的格里格 1868 年完成这部协奏曲时，他在家乡挪威以外的地方仍然鲜为人知。1869年4月3日，《钢琴协奏曲》由 Edmund Neupert 在哥本哈根完成了广受好评的首演。随后的十余年年间，这部作品逐渐在欧洲和美国广泛流传，格里格本人也曾多次亲自演奏，并且大量修改了管弦乐的配器。1879年,36岁的他在莱比锡布商大厦奉上的精彩演奏，令他从此名声大震。也许是受到了舒曼同样用 A小调谱写的协奏曲的启发，格里格的《钢琴协奏曲》第一乐章也以强有力的乐队和弦和短小精悍的钢琴华彩开篇。紧随其后，具有朴素民谣风格的第一主题由木管和圆号奏出，省思式的第二主题旋律则来自优美的大提琴。经过由第一主题主导的灿烂的发展部和两个主题的先后再现，充满戏剧性的华彩乐段又将乐章壮丽的开篇唤回。优美的慢乐章像是一首间奏曲。乐章开始时，加了弱音器的弦乐首先演奏出一个民族色彩浓厚的宁静主题，华丽的钢琴随后将带有某种哀愁的副题娓娓道来。当主题旋律的再现后，钢琴和缓的琶音直接将音乐无缝带入了第三乐章。悄然而至的终曲有着强烈的节奏感，独奏和乐队共同完成的回旋曲主题受到了挪威南部舞曲的影响，是整个乐章的中心。与之相对应，另一个抒情主题则首先由长笛领衔呈现、再由钢琴展开陈述。随着音乐的不断发展，主题变奏、钢琴华彩和狂想曲风格的发展部纷至沓来，最终抵达雄壮而灿烂的尾声。
